Robot Justification Software

Synopsis
"Sophisticated yet easy to use" describes the new Robot Justification software program—a computer spreadsheet providing a detailed format for evaluating the economic justification of industrial robots.

Created by V. Daniel Hunt, President of Technology Research Corporation, the unique set of three worksheets is designed for use with an IBM-compatible personal computer. The software analyzes robot acquisition decisions based on an evaluation of robot costs, and applicable tax and depreciation benefits under newly revised Federal tax laws.

Analysis is straightforward and concise using the worksheets since Robot Justification has been broken down into three separate categories. First is a determination of the total investment requirement. Second is a measurement of the investment's effect on operations, expenses, and profitability. Finally, an analysis of the return in relation to the required initial investment is provided .

As Hunt emphasizes, Robot Justification combines "the convenience and familiarity of a pocket calculator with the memory and display capabilities of the personal computer." Different robots or cost elements can easily be made and alternatives readily examined. Playing "What If?" with the program is often merely a matter of changing a single value such as the cost of the robot, labor expenditures, or tax rates.

"Doing the same thing with a pencil and paper, or calculator would most likely result in many wasted hours of erasing, redrafting, and recalculating," Hunt states. Robot Justification eliminates all "guess work." Quickly and accurately, it enables you to determine whether or not acquisition of a selected industrial robot would make optimum use of your company's resources.
